Teenage pregnancy is a global problem with U.S.A., UK and Australia leading in rates of teenage pregnancies in the developed world

At a time when more money and time is being spent on education than ever before students' drop out due to pregnancy becomes an issue of great concern to the nation. When a girl drops out of secondary school, the cost is often higher than when she drops out in primary school due to the cumulative expenditure over the years. The situation is worsened by the fact that the student leaves without a certificate unless she returns to complete school after delivery.

Despite the existence of the re-entry policy in many countries, most student-mothers still find it difficult to fit back into the school system after delivery.

This is a three-part article where I first examine the similarities in nature and in humans to determine where it is humans fail to understand depression and its function as a vital component to survival. Then I discuss the dangers in misunderstanding depression's role as a warning system to alert humans it is time to rest and to forgive. Last, I add commentary and make some suggestions as to what can be done to save depression from reaching the chronic stage.

Part one:

What is the Matter with Humans?

It is sufficient to say that most people appear driven by some unseen force or ("natural law") that causes them to hurry to get to where they are going fast, and we always seek the most convenient mode of transportation (path of least resistance) to get us there with the least amount of stress as possible.

Abstract:

I wonder in and out of existence - drifting through life unnoticed by the world - yet I am! People acknowledge me yet do not see me - they say hello but as if the person in front of them is but a fleeting image, I do not call attention to myself but will respond to, if called upon to do so. It is as if I am not really there - if I disappeared altogether would anyone remember me? If someone did think of me would be as a, "what ever happened to what's-her-name?" Sometimes I wonder, what is the point of me - why not just cease to exist - after all I am just the, "Invisible Girl". In this article we will look at the therapeutic intervention to help the teenager who feels so desperate they would rather be dead than invisible.

Introduction:

In the history of psychotherapy this phenomenon is hardly noticed or mentioned - the fact of psychological invisibility.

Whenever we enter a human space we consciously and unconsciously tune into and are influenced by the emotions of others around us both positively and negatively. This inborn tendency to be emotionally "in synch" with the other humans around us is what psychological researchers call emotional contagion.

We respond instinctively to the emotional tone of those around us and all normal human beings are susceptible to emotional contagion to some degree.

Emotional contagion and Empathy Emotional contagion in its most positive form is the basis of the human virtue of empathy. We need to be emotionally in tune with others in order to understand them, get along with them and to function effectively in the human social world.

Highly sensitive people's finely detailed observational abilities make them more responsive than most to the nuances of other people's feelings.

In track, I was so confident, and perhaps cocky, that I used to line up at the starting line and explain to all the other runners that I was going to win, and I hoped they could keep up to at least give me some competition so I wouldn't get bored. Consider if you will how easy it is for you to recognize someone's face, and the fact you probably know 10,000 faces, just as you probably know 10,000 verses in 10,000 different songs. That's a rather remarkable accomplishment for the human brain, and evolution has obviously served the human species quite well in this regard.

These are imprints built into the collective consciousness that we willingly undertake to adopt in order to learn, balance out or demonstrate for the benefit of others learning, the purpose of human evolution. This is the conscious agreement we undertake prior to incarnation.
Whenever I hear someone call out another and label them as having a psychological condition of "Delusions of Grandeur" I immediately look at the person making that statement to see if they themselves are achieved. Why you ask? It's simple really and I'd say it starts with this simple quote; "you must believe to achieve!" Most of us agree that you can't accomplish something until you believe you can.

Maltz wrote a very famous book back in the 50s titled "Psychocybernetics" and in this book he made the dubious observation that to achieve anything, it helps to envision yourself as having accomplished it before you actually start the process. In other words, one of the main tenants to success is to visualize in your mind in advance.

We are all familiar with the term "The Emperor Wears No Clothes." An expression arising from a tale told of a young boy who in his innocence declared aloud during a parade by the ruling King of the Realm, where everyone had to bow down to the King's will, "The Emperor Wears No Clothes!" as all around him bowed low and refused to see the obvious, much less name it. The ruled had been indoctrinated into believing the King was dressed in full regalia and no-one dared to challenge his nakedness except this young innocent.

When anything unseen and hidden is causing problems either within a society at large or as is often the case within the immediate family, first you have to name it. Until something is named there is no possibility of resolving it.

Despite this, very little is known by other therapeutic modalities about what the existential approach actually is and how its practitioners actually work with clients. In this paper, I want to sketch as simply as I can the existential phenomenological approach to interpretation and an approach to interpretation called the hermeneutic circle.

The hermeneutic circle is a method of interpretation conceived by German philosopher, Hans-Georg Gadamar in his 1960 work, Truth and Method.

Time Distortion is when the mind creates the illusion of time speeding up or slowing down. Have you ever had an event in your life (usually traumatic) that made it seem as if time was standing still or went by so fast you couldn't remember much of what happened? Those events caused your mind to distort your perception of time.

The question is how and why does this happen? Before I can answer those questions I need to give you a basic introduction into how the mind processes information.

We have two minds; a conscious and subconscious mind. Both of these minds process information differently.

This article will consider the nature of Self through modern precepts, critiquing Freudian psychology.

Common definition:

A view of Self.

The Self. A belief in the discrete nature of the individual (Ericsson). It is the factor that separates the individual from the rest of the world, which is thereby seen as a reflection of the individual.

Yes, there is the "rumor" if not solid truth that madness may more or less be an exhibition of genius in its most grand scale.
Not long ago, I watched that great Hollywood Movie Limitless and it reminded me of a conversation I had last year about what the best definition is for a True Genius. There are many theories on this, and I've enjoyed reading Howard Gardner's stuff, and Dean Simonton's nearly 300 research papers on the topic of creative genius eminent achievers. One thing that keeps coming back to me, is that someone of superior intellect and genius should be able to be good at many things and score well against all types of intelligence.

Oh, before I go too much farther, here, if you haven't watched "Limitless" directed by Neil Burger and starring Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro, and Abbie Cornish - you should go see it, and if you were the screen play writer or research team - excellent work, and I thank you for the philosophy and hard work, well done! Okay so, back to what I was saying here, it seems to me that the true genius ought to be able to adapt to anything, and that superior intellect of that kind would show up as the individual tried new things, it would be quickly obvious.

Indeed, I was discussing this with an acquaintance in India, a borderline creative genius himself, and he stated; "I agree, to a certain extent, that when you focus on a particular field of education or sport, your brain adapts to it.

Upon understanding the extent of Phineas Gage's accident, one begins to see its implications on studying the human brain and mind. In the classic debate of mind/brain (whether or not our identity is constructed of two components, the mind and brain; or, if mind is just a construct, or byproduct, of our brain and doesn't actually exist) there are typically three ways of addressing this issue. The first is dualism, which is the belief both mind and brain exist (the mind in the metaphysical realm and the brain in the physical) and they communicate with each other.

The second is a straight mechanical view point.

Indeed, some teachers have been asking questions of their students for decades, even in the hallowed lecture halls of the world's great universities. So why is there such discontent with much of what we call "higher learning?" Why are so many students so bored and so uninvolved in their own classroom instruction? A question should elicit a response and thinking of the appropriate response should actively engage the mind of the students, so what so often goes wrong with this picture? Some teachers and industrial trainers are adamant in their belief that they make effective use of questioning in their educational settings.

How do we describe such a complex thing as the brain? As it is, the primary mechanism for this banks on our capacity to create a cohesive narrative - a metaphor, if you will - of what will make sense for us. In turn, metaphor is a function of whatever it is that it is the ubiquitous norm. Different times would require different metaphors, and in this day and age, it is expected that the metaphors we use will fit our time.

A recent Physorg.com article serves to reiterate this idea.

Although dreams are unique to each individual, there are common dream themes that appear to transcend culture, gender and generations. Dreams about teeth falling out is one such common dream theme, and is indeed one of the top 10 most universal dream themes.

Whether you clench your teeth so hard that it makes your teeth loose, whether it is a single wobbly tooth or all your teeth crumbling and decaying of their own accord, whatever way your teeth depart there is always a sense of helplessness and powerlessness associated with the loss of one of the most important features of our attractiveness.

Remember back when you were a child and you had a loose tooth? And the impulse to wiggle it was so great you just couldn't leave it alone? It was almost exciting to lose a tooth back then, and you wanted to hurry along the process by playing and pulling at the tooth. Having a tooth falling out was a sign that you were growing up, of bigger and better teeth to follow.

Is there such a thing as the hidden truth? What is the truth? Is it true? Is there a terrible truth? So what's the truth about truth anyway? Why would someone think there is such a thing as hidden truth? All good question when it comes to discovering what is true.

Probably one of the main reason these questions arises, is because there are so many different people out there saying, "This is true" or "That is true" and it is not all the same, which leaves other questions, "Are others lying?" "How can there be more than one"?

I'm reminded of what a 21st century philosopher, Mr. Spock of the Starship Enterprise said, "Anything can be logical, it depends what you base the logic on." If he were talking about truth he would say, "Anything can be truth, it depends what you base the truth on." So the truth about the truth could be considered hidden or terrible depending on how you look at it. But don't look at it very hard or for very long because it will change on you.

The truth about the truth is some people's fear and that is, everyone filters everything subjectively, which means even what someone may call 'objective truth' has been filtered through one's subjectivity.

This is based on the idea that "good sound doctrine" is unchanging and nothing should be added to or subtracted from it, and if you try to refute this, you would be labeled a heretic. And this cold lead to imprisonment or punishment by death if you didn't recant your radical views.

When early astronomers such as Copernicus, Galileo, Bruno, and Kepler spoke out in declaring that the Earth was not the center of the universe, that the Sun held this esteemed position, these progressive individuals were accused of heresy by the Church; however, only Bruno was harshly condemned and burned at the stake.

"To array a man's will against his sickness is the supreme art of medicine." ~Henry Ward Beecher

In all things we fear change the most, but what happens when we're ready for change? How do we know what changes will make a practice grow?

Lots of people have great advice for this, they say: "do what you think is right" or worse, "do what you feel is right".

Sound like something grandma used to cook up when you didn't know how to handle the school bully?

In the End: It's all smoke-filled air.

As a profitability coach, my days are spent, much like a physician, helping others face the issues for what they are and fix them.

Nothing is more exciting for someone as dependent on the success of practices as I am as when a practice owner comes to me and says, "Reuven, I'm looking forward to the future and I think I need to make a change. Things are great right now, but I want to figure out new ways to grow my revenue and shrink my costs."

What does it mean to me to hear that?

In the End: I hear teamwork, commitment, and progress.

No matter what this practice decides in the future, at this moment, they want my help to figure it out.

So what's my answer? Nothing. Anyone who tells you they have the answer for your practice is lying.

Why are so many people in the world still innately superstitious? Why do they adhere to countless superstitions as if they are a religious belief system? Are we still living in the Dark Ages? Do we continue to retain old habits and old fears for some unknown reason?

I think one of the problems is that throughout the generations, people ignorantly pass on their superstitions, from one generation to another, from parents to children, and so people adhere to these preposterous myths, old wives' tales, magical thinking, groundless habits, irrational beliefs, and such superstitious concepts that go back several hundred years if not a few thousand.

The seeds of superstition begin at the subconscious level, which is susceptible to blindly believing anything, and then they manifest consciously through our behavior and actions. This strange dysfunction is trained into us by parents, grandparents, relatives in general, friends, religions, literature, etc. We are trained to walk on egg shells throughout life just to avoid "bad luck." Fear seems to be the primary motivator and incentive which makes us vulnerable to believing in these silly superstitions.

Although psychology has a firm place in academia in China it is not accepted by the population or the social system.
By now we've all heard that we are having a tough time with our returning military veterans, psychologically speaking that is. No, certainly not all, but the numbers of mentally afflicted individuals is serious enough to cause us grave concerns. The other day, I was considering all this, and doing a little research and wondering if perhaps, there was more we could be doing.

There was indeed, an interesting article Pysorg [dot] com the other day titled; "Rebooting the brain helps stop the ring of tinnitus in rats," published on January 12, 2011 and in the article it indicated that; "Researchers were able to eliminate tinnitus in a group of rats by stimulating a nerve in the neck while simultaneously playing a variety of sound tones over an extended period of time, says a study published today in the advance online publication of the journal Nature."

Now then, just a few days the prior there was another interesting article from a less than reputable UK tabloid journal about the reality that the US Military is firing some 250,000 rounds for every "insurgent, Al Qaeda, Tallyban, or Terrorist" eliminated.

As the coordinator for a think tank I've made an observation which I would like to discuss, and I think it's pretty serious. It is my contention that when someone has a security clearance they can't talk about many things, they have to keep their mouth shut - that is if they're true to their cause, and they have the personal integrity to keep their promise. But in doing so, they're not able to bounce their ideas off of other people, and therefore they keep all that information in their minds running around in circles.

Without the interaction with others of equal or higher IQ, they end up in a state of sensory deprivation, and their thoughts run around in circles and rather than allowing them to open their minds to new and interesting observations, and experiences, and facts about what it is they're doing.

That's hard to say really, but as the coordinator for a Think Tank which operates online, I can tell you that the topic comes up often enough. The reason was that the people of the region had never seen a horse before, so naturally enough they jumped to the conclusion that they were looking upon a single creature.

Another example would be the AIDS virus.

Schools as well as business leaders are being trained to implement this powerful, research-based system that uses brain studies and physical movement to enhance the core components of education and/or the work environment. It has been proven to increase teacher/leader effectiveness and improve student performance.

One of the key components of Quantum Learning, and there are many, is the idea of "living above or below the line".

Schools' jobs are to educate, not to promote eating disorders -Rebecca Tishman

High school students have a fascinating perspective- being on the front lines of school culture, they can certainly help us to understand the pressures of being a teenager today. Rebecca Tishman, a high school senior in New Jersey, knows what she thinks. As someone recovering from an eating disorder, she points out some of the major pitfalls that schools may be falling into inadvertently- even when they are trying to help their students live a healthy life.

Well just about everyone who meets me eventually finds out I'm recovering from an eating disorder.

In fact, there have been many psychological research studies on this, which would seem to indicate that this is indeed factual. Often its roots go way back from early childhood experiences of the bully. It is only appropriate then to understand the root causes of the bully to fully find the means to mend the brokenness on these people.

When Patty Hearst, granddaughter of William Randolph Hearst, was kidnapped in 1974 by people who called themselves the Symbionese Liberation Army, she was kept in a tiny closet for two weeks, blindfolded, and was physically and sexually abused.

It's claimed by some that only those people who are not physically nor mentally mistreated are likely to show signs of Stockholm Syndrome, but clearly this can't be the case. Hearst made it very clear that she supported this Liberation Army and its terrorist aims. Obviously, she was falling for her kidnappers fairly early on.

Further, she even sported a terrorist name; Tania.

Naturally, being physically abused could well turn some people against their captors, but the assertion that physical mistreatment affects everyone, certainly can't be true.

The F.B.I.'s Hostage Barricade Database System shows that roughly 27% of people kidnapped and held for a protracted period of time show signs of Stockholm Syndrome.

Since psychopaths feel neither guilt nor shame, it's really not possible to appeal to their better nature. They don't have one! As the old saying goes; 'You can't turn a lion into a vegetarian by throwing vegetables at him.' So the question throughout this article is; Why do psychopaths exist?

Never expect them to feel genuinely sorry for you. They'll go through the motions, and very convincingly too, but the mask comes off when it suits them.

If you really have suspicions about someone you know having psychopathic tendencies, or someone even on the periphery of your circle of friends, it wouldn't be a bad idea to jot down any evidence you see of manipulative behaviour, either with you, or anyone else.

Do your best to avoid being alone with them, most especially if you're of the opposite sex.

We're social creatures, we humans, and we look to one another to learn, what to be and what to expect, to greater or lesser degrees. Also, we tend to rely on the opinions of others as to what is, or what is not, possible.

Even if we consider ourselves to be the most independently minded of people, it's certain that somewhere along the line, we've picked up the thoughts and opinions of others.

We may not even be aware of how these thoughts have influenced us, even that they exist at all. But they do exist, lurking there in the back of our minds.

Mark you, the beliefs of other people are important to us, but I'm not suggesting for one minute that we can't be independent thinkers and doers in our own right.

What is post-rationalization? What is to post-rationalize and why is it useful? Is post-rationalization something we use to create an illusion, or can there actually be a useful reason for its existence?

The post-rationalization of an action is the act of giving meaning and purpose to actions after they have been conducted, and can serve as a tool to generate explanatory interior motives that were actually present, but unseen by the conscious mind during the rapidly exceeding act(s) or when a person was so caught in the moment that he or she is able to perceive from emotionally more neutral perspective that what had happened. This ability to post-rationalize is also a vital tool for learning from the personal history, as the strategies that were used in the past can be modified and lead to the creation of better strategies and responses. It can be used to romanticize one's personal history, to dramatize it and also to sketch comedic episodes from one's past in contrast with another way of thinking.

By creating a representation, the mind that seeks to understand existence can find meaningful and explanatory answers.

We see that many psychologists, teachers, and parents are bothered by anti-social people, and if Little Johnny in school is exhibiting anti-social behavior then there must be something terribly wrong? Yes, maybe there is and then again maybe there isn't, maybe nothing is wrong with Little Johnny. For instance, maybe Little Johnny just doesn't want to follow the crowd, maybe he is a natural leader, or a really intelligent kid, and he doesn't wish to be coaxed along by the teacher manipulating his emotions to serve there will.

Thus, maybe in this case Johnny is actually the thinker, more intelligent, and not one to follow. Does Johnny have a behavior problem or does he have a better understanding of what's going on.

Not long ago, I was talking to a self-proclaimed expert, also an author and speaker on teenage girls, and it quickly became apparent that much of what was going on appeared to be introspective in the mind of this expert psychologist and author.

She seemed to delve heavily into her own life and family for clues, yes, and conclusions.
To live our day to day lives fully, we need to have a sense of self worth. But where do we get this sense? From what do we base it on? Certain psychologists (principally Jennifer Crocker, Ph.D.) identified seven factors that we base our sense of self worth on. These are others' approval, physical appearance, outdoing others in competition, academic competence, family love and support, being a virtuous or moral person, and God's love.

From their theories, they have argued that a very vital point about self worth is identifying the primary basis of our sense of self worth.

Though we all have that feeling, some go over head, they let that cloud their future_ they live in regret.regret is a negative conscious and emotional reaction to personal past acts and behaviour. It is often experienced when someone feels shame, sad, embarrassment or depression after doing something that the person later wishes they had not done. There is a distinction between regret and remorse:

Regret is wishing we had not done something we did, or wishing we had we had not done something we had not done.Remorse is feeling inwardly ashamed of some perceived or real wrong we have done.

The first step in overcoming regret is by accepting that what is done cannot be reversed.

If we then continue the gradual defining of the observed phenomenon, the semantic content given to it alters, thus altering how it is perceived, bringing forth the dynamic properties our conscious valuations give to the representational world.

Why is it that they are such wimps, and will not come out from hiding behind bushes? I have a theory about this, having caught people criticizing myself and others. What I've found is generally they are people who are underachieved, lack self-esteem, and are somewhat depressed in life. Indeed, I am not sure how so many people got to be like this; but that's what I've found.

You see, anyone can hide behind a tree and spit on someone jogging down the sidewalk, but what does that say about the spitter? It shows that they are weak, lack personal character, probably lack integrity, and they most likely don't stand for anything.

For decades the demise of the text book has been easily predicted by advocates of each of the new panaceas of educational problems. First television then teaching machines like record players projectors and now computers all were expected to revolutionize education and free students and teachers from reliance on text books, but each of the new media has settled into its niche in the educational arsenal without dislodging the textbook. In fact, the greatest revolution in the field of education is not an out come of technology rather an achievement of text books and other printed materials made available for masses.

The introduction to open stack libraries, paper back books, inexpensive reprints and the photocopier has given the college teacher the opportunity to choose from sources varying in style, level and point of views.

When reading the thoughts of the historical figures to the extent of what we call ancient, we find similar arrogance over the past human generations, and how for example Lao Tze, the author of Tao Te Chin or Siddhartha Gautama who lived even before him had an arrogance over whom they called as ancient, just as we now call them. Within a decade, we may find ourselves feeling the most fashionable as distasteful, and the further we go in time, the more arrogantly we perceive the past of humanity.

The details of the realm we base the modernity of our realism has significantly altered since the days of such philosophical masters as Plato, Aristotle, Siddhartha Gautama, Laozi, Descartes, and Nietzsche. Depending on the level of the scope of our perspective, we may say that the contents of the cosmos are in a constant flux of changing in combination, but for in a pragmatic perspective that is willing to admit its limitedness, we may say that the causes for an emerging lightning, why Earth revolves elliptically around the sun, why the seasons change, what makes the distant suns as they are, why we get energy from the gas we breath, why blood carries oxygen, why the neurology of our brains function as they function, etc., are the same as they were during the time periods where these philosophical masters existed.

This article aims in highlighting those factors and pressures that lead an individual to become abusive in nature.

Warning

The use of any narcotics is different from individual to individual depending on the physiology of an individuals body as well as previous experiences. That is why it is not possible to really determine how it would be different on each individual and this article uses statistics and well known resources to pull its information from.

Mental and physical levels of our being are both areas that have interconnected consequences over the other, both influencing to the emerging forms of our sense of reality. And although we may sometimes find ourselves from the circumstances that we feel trapped or unable to move forwards in life, it is often only our own sense of reality that fetters a person to the obstacle, closing the mind away from the almost infinite amount of possibilities that surrounds the person constantly.

Besides representational thoughts such as events from the past that associate to the mind, simulations concerning the future, abstractions and fantasies, verbal thoughts can be considered as one of the main ingredients of the contents of the minds, creative, habitual or circumstance related. Thoughts can be analyzed from them semantic content in different categories and type, and thus by changing the semantic content of the sensed reality in the level of thought begins to influence to how the reality is introduced.

In whatever aspect the phenomena in the environment are observed, the categorical correlation in relations to them causes us to be in direct connectivity on a representational level in our consciousness. This means that the semantic content connected to the representations defines the content of the reality we experience existing in, under a constant progression.

When we consider that a guard in a subway is carrying a pepper spray can, as he or she senses it, he is in constant contact to the type of information it is composed of, since the sense of touch can only produce a representation of the object, from which can in parallel be attached the representation of its appearance, and so on.
Adrienne Rich said "Lying is done with words and also with silence." The self always shines through and there are many little hints & tips that if you are aware of can show big lying indicators in someone. Signs of lying can be everything from voice tone, body language, changing the subject, eye movements and more.

Body Language

-Look for stress and tension in the body and face-Extreme movements either way too stiff or overly dramatic.-Fidgeting, itching, rapid blinking, scratching etc.-Touching the ears, face, nose rubbing and mouth covering.-Hand signs are facing down or closed and turning white (blood rushing away from extremities under high stress.-Biting of the lips or extreme dry mouth due to stress.

Eye Contact

-No eye contact, a lot of people (except the compulsive liars) cannot tell a lie and look straight into someone's eyes.-Looking to the left (normally for a right handed person opposite for a left handed person) means they are lying and creating something that did not happen.-Unusual blinking.

Voice tone & communication

-Voice tone raises a couple pitches-Constantly trying to change the subject.-Uncomfortable with silence.-If you know someone's usual speed of conversation it is usually dramatically changed with lying.-A big pause in order to create something that did not occur.-Responding to your question with a question usually means they are trying to avoid the question and put the pressure on you.-Extra Defensive and accusing the other person of something to take the heat off of them.

Tips to Try

-Let the person talk and talk, as long as you are aware of some signs of lying usually an obvious lie or stress indicators will always show up.-Change the subject quickly and see if they release tension, a lot of times an innocent person will not want to change the subject until they get all their points and arguments out.

Try silence and staring at them for a little bit, if they are lying they will usually be uncomfortable and if they are telling the truth they will usually get frustrated or mad.

Conclusion

These tips and hints are only guides, it helps to know someone's normal behavior and pay attention to how much that is changing during the suspected lie. If someone does one or two of these actions it doesn't necessarily mean that they are lying.

Chaldean numerology allows you to peek into your 'self' from an unusual vantage point and to 'see' the specific vibrations that reside in your name energy...and some are more potent than others. For example, the letters E, H and N (and X) are all ruled by the powerhouse number 5 -- so if you have any of these energies in your name(s) or date of birth, the following descriptions may just ring a bell for you...and help you understand how we are all affected by the energy essences that we carry around on a daily basis.

We know from our experience that we seize to be consciously aware of the environment when we are asleep, but when we for example enter to REM sleep voices such as sirens may become a part of the dream we are experiencing as a result of the endless content generative cycle our sub-conscious brain functions go through in relativity with the sensory data and as it is hypothesized, the already existing data of the past experiences.

Perception begins from the moment when the luckily massless photons come in contact with the retina, activating in relativity with their frequency a content generative cycle in the brains, first received in the visual cortex by individual neurons, from where they exceed to other regions of the visual cortex, recognizing patterns, producing content to the representation of the environment. Similar content generative cycles from different forms of sensory data are active in the different regions of the brain, and it is only the sum of these content generative cycles that produce the content of the awareness, including memories and semantic content such as the meaning of a cup and how it is used. These content generative cycles are the sub-conscious side of the human consciousness, and they are all interconnected to the conscious, although the area of the visual cortex that receives individually the stimulus from the retina hardly gains data from the region that first receives the stimulus from the frequencies of sound.

The existence of the content generative cycles also teaches us how the experiences change the contents of the awareness as the complexity of synaptic connections between neurons increases and the amount of memories mount.

Would you want to take part in research that assessed the state of your mental health? Would you want to answer questions about child abuse or other traumatic experiences?

Most research in the mental health area will ask participants about their current or past mental health, or experiences that are related to mental health. These questions may be intrusive or cover sensitive topics, and intuitively may seem distressing to answer.

It's worth keeping in mind though that all research conducted by organizations such as universities and hospitals will have undergone an independent ethical approval process. This process checks things like whether the research has benefits that outweigh the risks to participants, that participants must give consent before they can take part, and that they are informed of what the study is about, what will happen to the data they give, how to drop out of the study if they wish, and so on.

Many studies are also required to provide resources where participants can seek emotional support, if needed.

What is meant by a representational sense of reality? How is it formed, and how does it affect you? In following we will find answers to these questions, including how to consciously use this for own benefit.

Every stimulus our senses are able to translate into neural impulses are possible sources of information that are experienced in the conscious mind. But there exists phases, intervals between the information we receive of our environment and senses, a content generative cycle that is solely in the hands of our sub-conscious brain functions that combine individual data to macro-level representations that emerge to consciousness. In fact and as a summarizing sentence, what you perceive as the environment is the representational content produced by your sub-consciousness after the content generative cycle.

Mental map is a common term given for the phenomenon of us being able to for example navigate in our minds to places we are not at present.

In our morally relaxed society of live and let live, it is difficult to understand why a man would be bent on destroying a plane full of "innocent" people with explosive laden underwear. The phenomenon of fundamentalist Muslim terrorist suicide bombers is best explained psycho-sexually.

Sexual fulfillment is a powerful desire in human men. You only have to look at the sexual scandals of our greatest sports figures, politicians, and reality stars to see examples of this.

We do what the therapist says we think we have cleared ourselves we take the potions, guaranteed to heal us and maybe we feel better for a short while, only to have the malady recur and we feel bad again. Those patterns of on/off are stored in our brain and compared to previously inputed patterns for comparison and storage as neurons.

They are many people who contributed greatly to the study of human behavior and one of them is a psychologist named Albert Bandura. He is the main proponent of the social learning theory which even today is widely recognized as one of the best theories that explain the behaviors of human beings. Together with his Bobo Doll experiment, Bandura came up with the social learning theory.

So what is the social learning theory about? Why is it considered as an effective theory? What made it different from other theories in the field of psychology?

Here are some important things you should know about the social learning theory:

The topic of healthy psychology is very much directly linked to your self-esteem, because the way that you portray your level esteem and confidence to the world is through an external reflection of your inner acceptance and worth. Your psychology determines what states these are in and has a tendency to unconsciously guide your thoughts unless you intervene and consciously control your thoughts and feelings to higher ground than they may to by default, by an accumulation of gathered emotional and physical trauma.

When you do nothing to take control and guide your psychology to find and focus on everything beautiful and wonderful in your life it will naturally hone in on every negative memory you have ever had. Human beings have a tendency to focus always on what's wrong, how things would be better if, blame, shame, punish, self-destruct, grudge-holding, and on and on.

The concept of death is more intriguing than the concept of life and even if we do know what happens in life, we don't seem to know anything that happens in death. The mysteriousness of death makes it a very interesting topic for psychology and like many other subject areas, this topic has not got enough attention from psychologists.

Freud dealt with this extensively and there has been some very basic research on death. Finally we have to realize that psychology is still a developing and new subject and there are many unexplored areas, including the psychology of death.

There are plenty of places that you can look up the rules of interpreting dreams, but in this article we'll be looking at a few of the more common types of dreams that people have and what they could potentially mean. While there are an infinite amount of possible dreams there are usually a relatively small amount of different parts that make up these dreams so basic dream interpretation starts with learning the fundamentals.

Gramsci philosophy and ideas depend upon a collection of intellectuals comprising what can be considered a aristocracy while Foucalt's focus is not simply on any particular individual but the structure of the given organization providing positions of authority to act with power. Just as one can take the more scenic route or choose to take the more succinct to find themselves at a destination our philosophers in question take a different perspective and direction to drive to the central point of focus-the power itself.

As psychologists further explore the still largely unknown workings of the human brain, more and more is discovered about subconscious thinking and its powerful role within influence and persuasion. We all experience forms of subconscious thought. "Eureka" moments when unresolved questions are suddenly answered. Completing the last stretch of a long journey on "auto pilot." Brand logos, product strap lines, roadside hoardings, TV commercials, product placement in TV programmes all use peripheral or subconscious communication. They anchor images, sounds and thoughts in our minds, and subsequently trigger off "impulse" buying decisions.

The next time you pass McDonald's notice how you will actually experience the taste of a burger. Music teachers and sports psychologists coach their students into a state of unconscious competence.

For 18 years I practiced what I had learned, and I was never happy with the results.

I saw that people often felt better for the moment, or resolved a particular issue, but that when new issues came up, they didn't have a process for dealing with them. In all the years of my own therapy, I had never learned a process either - a process for loving myself and taking 100% responsibility for my own feelings and needs.
