Type D Personality and Visual Bursting Strategies Using Computer Screen Savers
We all know about Type A Personalities, and the pros and cons about those with that sort of personality displacement, but have you ever heard of Type D Personality? It too has challenges. But it does appear there are ways to assist such folks with their own demons and challenges. Okay so, in this “Type D” personality displacement we find that Johan Denollet, PhD recommends; “Using techniques such as guided imagery, breathing exercises, meditation, tai chi, and yoga to help manage stress and mood and learn to control anger and hostility.”
Now, my question would be, let’s say we wished to help this “Type D” person cope with, and perhaps round out the edges of their personality to prevent such things as anxiety and stress to their central nervous system and heart, which appears to be causation for lots of illnesses and diseases – could we use my concept of mine of “screen-saver image viewing at calibrated rates” as these guided images?
Let me explain. I have set aside some 5,000 images of aerospace designs, new technologies, innovations, celestial objects, space tech, etc. and I play these images on my screen saver at intervals of 1-2 seconds each to help boost the spatial visual part of my brain just prior to times when I will need to deal with complex problems. Now then, although I doubt if I am a Type D person, it helps me think, invent, and innovate.
But of this would help a Type D cope, then that could be one market for such a product? You see, although guided imagery is all about visualizing within the mind, why not use such a system to visualize outside the mind, taking in the information. We know that watching TV for only 20-30 minutes provides heightened cognition and then declines after that.
So, using my image-screen-saver scheme, we can do the same thing, but with all good, strong, scenic images, rather than the junk on TV, positive reinforcement, and potential for pushing their minds into the creative flow or “can do” space to achieve whatever it is they wish too. And without getting too “Tony Robbins” hypster’ish towards a cult trickery of the mind – since it seems to work, and it holds within the “guided imagery” theory of relaxation, meditation, etc. it is a viable mind booster.
The types of images used would be those associated with strong self-esteem, like the “Successory” pictures used in offices on the walls. All we’d need is to get permission to use such images, or take the pictures and put them on the screen-saver program. If there are “Type D” personalities which fit all these profiled traits (listed below), then that means there are a percentage of them in all types of professions and careers. (wonder what the percentage is of that potential market segment?)
This group of folks thus, they need assistance to overcome the issues that could be holding them back. So, it would indeed serve them, and it would be worth something to them – monetarily speaking – a viable business and thus, profit. And, it appears there are lots of “research papers” on this, so, therefore, one could assert that it will “help” them, and if not “make them smarter” – at least, make them happier, which is also a desire amongst humans.
Maybe they could get a reduction on health care insurance, better yet, maybe the Health Insurance Companies would pay for it, to improve the health of their insured, thus, less outlay of medical costs associated with the risks described below? Thinking out loud again of course. Why not please consider all this.
